Crossing the Finish Line

Hey, folks. I’ve finally wrapped up all my diary stories for Iceland 2017 and organized all my photos. My homework is to finish a more indepth piece on how the Icelanders are harnessing their volcanoes to heat their homes!

You’ll recall I had a goal to balance my duck fat cocktails and shellfish soups with a good dose of walking … well, from my front door there and back (which admittedly included a lot of airport walking), I clocked 31.2 miles!! Yay.

And for those who have developed a bit of a curiosity about Iceland’s unique climate … the sun rose in Reykjavik this morning at 11:13 am local time and set at 3:30 pm — TWO HOURS less sunlight than when I was there 3 weeks ago! Nine more days and the day will start growing again.

Thanks for keeping me company on my first visit to Iceland! Stay tuned for a heads-up on the next trip! — L

Congrats on walking a marathon! It’s been fun walking along with you through Iceland, a place we may never get to experience ourselves! But, gee, four hours of daylight??

An update on Iceland’s geothermal process. Hard to leave the engineer out of the girl.
Thanks for sharing your adventure and making me feel guilty for not walking more.

Oooooooh, the next trip is on the agenda already?

What a fun “virtual” trip for us all! Thanks for the glimpse into a very interesting culture.
